Course Syllabus
- TITLE OF COURSE: - PE1091 Senior Fitness Testing
- COURSE DESCRIPTION: 1 credit hour lab. The course will assess the functional mobility of independent living older adults, ages 60-90+. This class does not fulfill general education physical education requirements. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.

- PROGRAM AND/OR DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT: The Seward County Community College/ATS physical education program will broaden the understanding of fitness for life by providing general education, appropriate technology, and professional development opportunities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
- TEXTBOOK AND MATERIALS: No textbook required.
- SCCC/ATS OUTCOMES: Those successfully completing this course will demonstrate the ability to do the following SCCC/ATS outcomes.
- Outcome #1 Read with comprehension, be critical of what is read, and apply knowledge gained to real life situations.
- Outcome #2 Communicate ideas clearly and proficiently in writing, appropriately adjusting content and arrangement for varying audiences, purposes, and situations.
- COURSE OUTCOMES:
- To investigate the importance of exercise in alleviating health problems.
- To explore the benefits of overall wellness.
- To recognize the importance of fitness and all of the components.
- To develop a life long fitness program

- INSTRUCTIONAL AND RESOURCE MATERIALS:
- Handouts provided by Wellness Center.
- Health articles, newsletters, etc.
- METHODS OF ASSESSMENT: Methods of assessing the general course outcomes and the specific course competencies include attendance, participation, and assignments.
- SCCC Outcome #1 will be based on attendance and participation.
- SCCC Outcome #2 will be based on assignments indicating comprehension of pertinent materials.
